manxman34
There's a 'cartoon' on IoMNews&Politics putting flowers and nibbles in the HoK chamber - cos there's ladees, now, gedditt? Some have pointed out that the 'joke' may be considered typical of casual sexism as per the 1950s. Mr Peters has opined that it is 'funny' and posted some guff about patriarchy for good measure. Growing into the role already.

Growing into the role already. It’s mildly amusing and Mr Peter’s comments are in no way offensive. What sort of society have we become? And how can Mr Peter’s function effectively as an MHK as every little quip he makes is scrutinized for evidence of misogyny, racism or homophobia? If he does overstep the mark, yes he should be called to account. But really? 3 1
Sheldon
Humour is obviously subjective, but Phil Woodford cartoons are dismally unfunny at the best of times and this one is no exception. 5

Day 1 of a new job, do you: A) Say that you find a cartoon that implies your new female colleagues are only there to bring flowers and biscuits funny B) Not do that It's not a hard choice. 4

It's a fucking cartoon for christ's sake! Have a jab at the cartoonist, it is his idea of humour. No it's not particularly funny but it's a poor show that you should use it as a stick. To be expected though.

Are you suggesting that 100% of people with a sense of humour would find that funny? That doesn't seem to be a sensible suggestion. So it quite specifically has to be a sense of humour that doesn't mind sexist jokes in a context where they're not very funny, yeah?
