2112
The Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece has an article interviewing Allan Bell, former Chief Minister, who claims that the outgoing CM Quayle communication strategy failed. Bell says how his COMIN spoke directly to the media to explain. Lets be honest, Quayles lot, Boot, Harmer, Baker and Cregeen were useless and got found out. Quayle wasn’t much better but 10 service with 5 as CM softens the wallet, along with a gong and government privileges. The Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece Manx Radio publishes what IOMG was publishing and Ministers and MHK have an almost privileged communications hotline in which to trot out whatever bullshit they want to say. Coupled with some MHKs who like IOMNP Facebook and some on MF (rebuttal machine - when it suits - Chris Thomas and Rob Callister. The Prom fiasco, the Liverpool Ferry Terminal fiasco and the St Marks Trees fiasco were fuck ups of serious magnitude and no amount of IOMG spin, press releases, face to face interviews and Cabinet Office interference will make the voters see Boot, Harmer, Baker and Cregeen see them as saviours of the islands problems. If there is an island COVID19 public inquiry, how will the IOMG communications strategy get themselves out of any negative publicity or criticism? I don’t think a tame MLC or Athol Street Lawyer could rig the findings of that report.

As has recently been uncovered? And didn't Bell form the Cabinet Office with its reams of communications wallahs? Bell was as full of sh1t as any of them, for him to be criticising anybody else is more than a bit ripe. 1
Roger Mexico
Given that Bell was the one who set up the current communications system and Cabinet Office it's a bit rich for him to have a go at Quayle for doing the same as he did. If anything we've seen rather too much of the Ministers rather than too little. A few more appearances from the civil servants who actually implement - and usually make - the decisions would be more informative. And the main difference between the electoral record of Bell's CoMin and Quayle's is that a lot of Bell's (Bell, Teare, Ronan, Shimmin) didn't even stand. Crookall (like Skelly) was up in LegCo and Gawne was defeated. Only three were re-elected (Quayle, Watterson, Skelly), just like this time (Cannan, Ashford, Allinson). Andy Onchan
The thing that amazes me about the PR wallahs in the Cabinet Office is the sheer amateurism that comes across.

It happened when they created the Cabinet Office, though that was partly through centralising PR people who were already working in individual Departments. The numbers were actually fairly stable under Quayle, though competence levels stayed abyssal.

2112
Why did Bell need to get involved? Did he really need to do an interview? Both he and Quayle received CBEs, perhaps he has a beef with Quayle? Besides if you criticise the outgoing CM, others will delve deep into decisions made by the Bell Regime 2011-2016, and perhaps spending decisions and contracts given out should be re-examined? I’m not defending Bell, but he has to be idiotic. Bell and his COMIN cronies got away lightly, and let’s face it Quayle hardly set the Healthcare Sphere on the island on fire - burned loads of money instead.
