You would think so but was in Just Pizza and Pasta last night with visiting friends and when leaving at 7 ish the entrance foyer area was rammed , at least 20 people , with people waiting for there tables or on walk ins. The place was full and on a wednesday too.. Clearly some have money still .

Prices were around £2 to £3 higher than a year or so ago .

Civil servant and key worker nights are going to be popular. They’re going to be the only group of people who have any money with their guaranteed inflation busting pay increases and 100% job security.

There's zero incentive for Manx Gas to lower prices. They just add their mark-up onto the wholesale price and tell the customers "we know it's tough but it's unavoidable", CURA rolls over and gets it's belly tickled.

Sure we could nationalise it but the parent company won't give it away. Manx Gas is a literal cash cow for them. They'll let it go at all future expected profits plus a percentage... they money for that would either be taken from government reserves or borrowed and will then have to be repaid by the GMP. Personally I think it would cripple public finances at a time when we already have a £400m loan and who knows what other loans in addition to the £4bn pension black hole. The grass isn't as green as CanCom would have us believe.

The time to nationalise Manx Gas was when they were on the ropes and struggling financially. They were weak and struggling. That's no longer the case.

They're getting 2% which they'll reject and rightly so.

Don't be jealous of collective bargaining join a union and get access to it yourself.

No jealousy involved at all. It’s a statement of fact. It’s only going to be largely public sector workers who will have any money left to keep places like that going. They should be doing GOA themed nights - 10% off or a free cocktail for any card carrying civil servant still able to afford to go out.

And DBC are still ripping out perfectly good oil boilers when a property becomes empty or up for refurb. Your boiler goes down , will cost £35.00 in parts and an hour to fit. Rip it out new gas boiler in, no choice. You have to have the most expensive fuel the Island has ever seen.

Little government

Get rid of local authorities. Use the money saved to help the tax payers

Or get local authorities to start acting with some real financial prudence rather than just paying lip service to it whilst engaging in wasteful squander of ratepayers funding.
