None of them are filling in daft forms for civil servants. 1. Tax breaks for those who rent to key workers (currently 20% deducted at source) 2. Government guaranteeing the tenancies & damages to de-risk the tenancies for the landlord 3. Government paying grants to tenants so they can better afford higher rents 4. Government being the lead tenant & paying the rent direct rather than the employee to de-risk arrears for the landlord All of those would make it attractive for the landlord to focus on key workers. But what is the solution agreed? More red tape and basically bullying people into signing an unpopular voluntary register to effectively achieve nothing for the property owner. There are more people looking to rent than rental property available. Most estate agents have next to no rental stock and if you put a property on Facebook it’s let almost instantly so why would anyone go through this daft process. hissingsid Posted August 3, 2022 Share Posted August 3, 2022 Most of the property is at least £1,200 per month I don’t now how people can afford to pay this and save for a property of their own. There should be a fair rent department that assess how much a property should be rented for with a comparison to the social housing rents. If these greedy landlords decide to sell up that is great all those houses would be for sale, properties would stabilise and people would look to buying instead of renting especially if the government got a realistic scheme for first time buyers. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes, it is a shame that this happens but those 'off plan' sales probably help to fund the overall development, including the 'Affordable Housing'. It's not just Dandara making a killing out of this system, it's you and I, our neighbours, friends, relatives, your Doctor, nurses, your Kids teachers and Uncle Tom............Maybe your wife is squirreling money away for when she divorces you!!!
