But then you seem to deliberately fail to see most things on this forum. There must be a permanent Nike swoosh hovering above your head. The councilor got in unopposed. Which says it all really. Now a totally unelected public official has the chance to deliver real damage to other peoples incomes through the adaptation of lazy and unpopular policies. If he is to stand for Keys next time around (which is clear) he should be aware that when it comes to populism he can probably out “Josem” Micheal Josem with all his insincere electric car and recycling rubbish. He’s just another talentless goon riding the green wave in order to milk public opinion while simultaneously pulling peoples pants down.

Why all the anger? Haven’t you got anything meaningful to do with your life? Posting toxic rubbish like this makes me wonder if there are deeper issues with some people sometimes. You don’t like people getting in unopposed then get off the couch and stand yourself. Maybe then you’d also learn how council works and that one person alone doesn’t decide anything there. I’m always open for constructive criticism but this kind of lazy sniping from the sidelines is just moronic.

Hating on the council is a national sport, I get it, but it’s not healthy. You want to learn more about it and give constructive criticism then drop the anonymous username that gives you the courage to insult people and get in touch. Happy to show you around and listen. Maybe if people understood better how frustratingly complex such a small administration can already be they’d have a different view. It’s a younger and smaller council now. We know there are many things that need to be addressed. Some are easy, some are not. None are helped by throwing insults around.

Not everyone aspires to broadcast from the roundel outside the Villa Marina.

I realise you're relatively new on the Council, but any idea how such a small administration became so frustratingly complex in the first place?

Whether easy or difficult, the solutions always seem to be the same.  Just pile another layer of bureaucracy on top of the existing numerous piles.

" What would you do''??? Is never a good response Amadeus.

What we might do is elect someone else? Someone who gives us 60's service!!!

I don't disagree with the DCorp stance but you need to explain and explain again however tedious it may be.

''You can include cardboard in the recycling collections now,  so no need. ''

Even brown cardboard? Still means a huge carton sticking out of the re-cycle bin, new bins = more rates expense.

We can't expect the binmen to take the time to fold up our TV carton to fit in their truck, maybe jam the mechanism, it needs our compliance?

It's the efficient use of rubbish disposal that will make it sustainable. Are we up to that? Yet?

Folding a cardboard box takes a firmly planted foot  and some opposing pressure from your hands.  After that, most fit in the crate.

Can’t say I am looking forward to this!

Glad to hear containers for recycling are being looked at after so long.

Our estate has a lot of young families and there is rarely space in our bins after a week, most people here have more than one green container for recycling aswell.

Bigger bins is a good shout, there was a family of 8 up the road who had a bigger bin so maybe that’s a possibility for people who are going to struggle.

That golf course needs hiving off to the private sector. The golfers might then realise the true cost of maintaining such a course when it got transferred to their annual subs.

Don’t understand  “it’s the same amount of collections, just split between rubbish and recycling” either.

We have had kerbside recycling for years, that’s a box or 2 every fortnight. Weekly rubbish is a full bin that’s going to still be full but an additional week of non recycling rubbish.

You need to look carefully at what you are binning.  Cardboard packaging, plastic bottles etc. all can be recycled.  In fact there is a lot more that can be recycled, it is just getting into the habit.

We are in the habit, that’s the point. Recycling isn’t new, a bin instead of a box will help but there is still 2 weeks of rubbish to fit into a bin on top of our normal recycling.

Yes it does but as the average member is a postie or a Corpy worker of Corpy tradesman they won’t do it. It really grates with me funding such an elitist ‘sport’ on peoples rates. The Clubhouse alone should be capable of making a profit. Not hosting subsidized Sunday lunches.

The golf course is already being looked at with a view to make it more commercially viable. At the moment the rules are too stiff on what they can actually do to run it as a proper business. I do like it though that golf is a sport for the masses here and not just for the elite. Needs to be pushed more.

It needs privatising or turning into first time buyers housing.

Efforts to 'commercialise' things will ultimately lead to even higher costs for ratepayers.

Why is the Council trying to compete with the private sector anyway? That's not the function of a council. Stick to the basic services. The whole council is unfit for purpose.
