Apparently the IOM has been invited to the COP UN summit in Glasgow in early November, due to all the wondrous works, this island is doing. Of course a delegation of Manx big knobs, civil servants and politicos will be going, on the biggest ego trip to end all ego trips. Led by Dafnee. Be prepared for non stop walk to wall coverage as our pathetic lot, try to be world leaders. I wonder if Alf is going, and will he manage to get the ultimate picture of himself and the US President Joe Biden. I can see all our contingent making absolute fools of themselves on the world stage. Would love to know how much influence the IOMG thinks it has, and how much this junket is going to cost? What’s the Isle of Man’s attendance going to achieve? Nothing. If the UK agree targets and a plan, the IOM, the devolved administration’s and crown dependencies will do as they are told. If Boris bans gas boilers the IOM will follow suit, same goes with ending the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles. All this junket will give is for our delegates to show boat, preen themselves and act like big cheeses, as if they are something important. The UK Government will introduce rafts of new legislation as a result of COP and climate change talks. The HOK and Tynpotwald will sit and hold endless debates, consultations and adoption of the UK legislation. Hardly any original thought is there? An original idea, which the IOMG won’t do is to ban the TT and motorsports, like Rallying and Car Enthusiasts Rallies. Endless carbon emissions polluting the environment. Also the IOMG is hardly setting a good example in its planning policies, which encouraged large scale building of residential homes, without adequate provisions such as sewerage, and drainage in place. The IOMG is a great success story and example when it demonstrated to the world it’s readiness to allow an application to chop down mature elm trees in St Marks. A recent planning application by the Starship Enterprise to chop down trees at Nobles Park, a green lung of Douglas, so they can create a TT access road through the park to the Grandstand. Looks good to the COP audience? What would Greta say? Bet Alf would want his picture taken with Greta, then planning permissions for huge housing developments in areas of outstanding Manx beauty will be approved. The fuel will be eliminated. Vehicles will either be electric or hydrogen. Even then I’m sure the green lobby will whinge that the power which is generated to create the electricity isn’t green enough. The IOM is going to have to shut down the power station. Perhaps we should have tidal power, solar farms and windmills on the Mountain Road. We can harvest the hot air and bullshit from Tynpotwald, a readily and plentiful supply available. I really think you need to stop criticising and get involved in some way so that your amazing ideas and plans can be turned into reality. There are legco seats up for grabs now or you have nearly five full years to prepare for a Keys place assuming there aren’t any by elections. If I'm understanding it properly, they are extracting the hydrogen from water to manufacture the fuel using wind generated electricity?
