DoI not fit for purpose

Had a walk around Port Erin today. The DOI brought a uk firm over to blast off all the double yellow lines over the summer, but they haven’t gone back in, leading to camper vans and other dumped parked on blind bends / junctions on way up to Breagle Glen.

It pretty much sums up the DOI, why would you engage a contractor to remove regulatory lining when you don’t have any plan whatsoever to put it back.

if they cant even organise a bit of paint or no waiting cones, good luck with the airport.

Similar with the removal of centre lines around the island eg Johnny Watterson lane etc , removed but not repainted

Only for safety in low viz conditions and darkness. So no we don't need them.

Looking round our roads we also don't seen to need stop lines or give way lines either for that matter.

End of Athol St junction anyone? For an example, there are many more.

We might as well say fuck it, free for all on the roads here and have a Mad Max type driving/ riding experience.

Thats great until an accident happens ,then some smart lawyer will hammer  the ass off the DOI  in court   for negligence  the victim will receive serious amounts of compensation for loss or injury , and all because some suit in the DOI . who probably drives past this junction several times a day  couldn't be bothered to issue an order to the line painting squad to get on with the job , or better still give the line painters discretion  to do work if they deem its becoming a risk or dangerous ,do the same with potholes !

Is that the traffic light junction by Railway Hill?

I wish the island would adopt minimum standard for maintenance of the main A roads. Even just white lines. Cats eyes are probably too much to ask. Although the stretch along Gansey has some really effective ones.
