DoI not fit for purpose

I think that’s the plan, but wouldn’t it be sensible to buy subject to planning permission? Otherwise we could have the same as the property they purchased for Peel which was then refused PP for sewage

That happens quite frequently in the commercial world, subject to approval for planning in principle.  Why buy a property if you can't use it for what you want?

Can you get planning permission based on property you don't own. @John Wrightor @Roger Mexico would know. I assumed you couldn't but I am most likely wrong.

Yes happens all the time with building companies eg Hartford applied for permission to build 300 houses off ballafletcher road, bulk of land is owned by Drinkwater estate who are on side & part owned by church who have refused to sell as required for grave yard expansion in due course

Sounds a bit chicken and egg with uncertainty and wasted time all round. Didn't MUA get planning permission for Laxey, then purchase the land, then get the planning recinded after the locals protested and appealed. Sounds like the MUA are on a hiding to nothing and the sewage will go into the sea for ever and millions will be wasted in the merry-go-round.

PS why are we in the DOI not fit for purpose thread🤣

DoI head admits lack of competent managers - sort of:

’And where we do have resources, it’s increasingly difficult to spend it - and it takes management skills to get through the government procedures and to spend it effectively, and we don’t have those resources with the skills internally either and we find it very hard to recruit into those positions.’

They can’t get those skills? 5 employees clearing paths at a total employment cost of £191,000 a year. If they can’t find anyone to clear a few frigging paths for £38,000 a year then the world is mad.

Perhaps it is 1 Path maintenance manager, 1 Path maintenance assistant manager, 1 Path maintenance planning manager, 1 Path maintenance assistant planning manager, 1 path maintenance operative

And at least one Crayonista to come up with the wonderful concept drawings and then a social media coordinator to produce content to let the GMP know all about the wonderful work they do

You forgot the Director of Path Maintenance. Without this postholder, little would get done.
