Even the subsequent posts about how cheap a particular cheese is in Shoprite, assumes you can get to shoprite. Not happing if you are in Jurby and can’t afford the bus fare (5.40 return to Ramsey) £3.80 return from Jurby actually. Is the extra your cut? Not more money for the long term who just cant be arsed and wont ever change, but more help for those who genuinely fall on really hard times and need a leg up to get them back on track. ie making individual judgements about people’s personal circumstances. Someone of a right wing disposition may come to a different conclusion from someone with socialist leanings. Is someone genuinely in need or are they lazy so and so’s? One mans meat is another mans poison etc So better to have a black and white system initially, based on numbers (income, dependants etc)with provision for appeal taking into account other ( non quantifiable) factors Edited November 6, 2021 by The Voice of Reason

And what sheltered lives they have led. our “benefits system” stood by and watched me sell everything I owned to be able to buy crap food. The Arab went for £30 as I remember, there certainly wasn’t a sky subscription 🙄 Edited November 7, 2021 by Ramseyboi

To be fair though it is difficult not to look down on some people. We live in the age of information, every bit of knowledge you want is at the end of your fingertips but still people line up outside McDonalds every day for their food, knowing what they are being served shouldn't really be classified as food at all. Ah now, this is a good one. McDonalds < or > than home made sausage and mash with loads of butter? McDonalds < or > than an M&S chicken and bacon sub? McDonalds < or > than A chicken korma and naan? etc etc. Not a price issue but I believe you are alluding to the food being low quality but you are possibly one of those people who thinks a quick pasta salad from M&S or Boots is a fine lunch. Nothing wrong with a McDs every now and then if you can afford it. Out of interest, when did you last actually look at their menu?

I'm sure it's still made from the same barely digestible ingredients though. Or they may even have updated it to cater for the people who want to feel better about themselves by going there and ordering a side salad of cheap, chlorinated GMO veg to go with their chicken nuggets. You know you could rewrite that paragraph as "I don't know what I'm talking about but I'm going to continue", right? 🤔 2
