2112
According to 3fm there was a gorse fire last night at Peel Headlands. Can only be done by arson or discarded cigarettes. Think of the environment.

hissingsid
No of course not by fireworks that would be unthinkable even though it was November 5th. FFS. 1

No, a discarded fag is most likely, its tinder dry up there. Does anyone read these press releases back to themselves (can even read out loud if reading in their head is a bit of a challenge) to sense check them? 2112
I was going to mention sky lanterns, but they are supposed to be banned. I never even thought of fireworks.
cissolt
The courier mentions an additional use for the incinerator, disposal of waste oils. How does this sit with our emissions targets? Burning plastics and waste oil doesn't sound very good for the environment

Non-Believer
I watched a news article on the city incinerator in Copenhagen a couple of weeks back (complete with roof garden). It's huge and way more sophisticated than ours but it was lauded for the way it burned the city's rubbish to generate heat and electricity in a "green" fashion. One of my son's lives in Copenhagen and all his heating and hot water comes from the electricity generating station and this plant. The system works brilliantly. Shake me up Judy
What's the expected lifespan of the Richmond Hill incinerator now and when's it up for decommissioning ? Would it pass current or future carbon emission standards and tests ? What's the plan and the cost after that ?
