They are not deliberately running it down, they wouldn't stay in business long if they started repairing buildings that they have bought with a view to demolishing. There's a photo earlier in this thread showing the building in the early 20th century, it was derelict then! 21 minutes ago, Ringy Rose said: They bought it knowing it was a protected building and it's easier to show something is "unsafe" than trying to get that protection removed. Developers in the UK do it all the time, either the roof gets a "leak" or something spontaneously combusts. I'm quite happy to agree that this particular building shouldn't be registered, but it is, and it is telling that Kelproperties have gone down the "disrepair" route rather than seeking to have the protected status removed. No, they checked its status before purchase. This alerted the authorities to slap a preservation order on it without informing the purchaser! (The Isle of Man where you can eh?) 10 minutes ago, Ringy Rose said: It's been on the register since April 2018, but when they bought it isn't public information, so I don't know. They've also had the thick end of five years to challenge the protected status, and haven't done. Err, I'm pretty sure they have!

The island is a joke. Get it demolished and get something else built that is nice and modern and let’s get some momentum going for the rest of that part of town to follow suit. The other side of the quay needs nice modern mixed use buildings as does Lord Street when they pull that down, and hopefully James Street etc as well. 1

Put the address or postcode in here and it’s clear when they bought it (and the other units). https://propertyprices.im/

Not sure on James street, I would think a private contractor could refurbish them up a good standard, Arragon seems to have done a good job so far on cronkbourne village in complete refurbished condition, some with balconies at back . It’s good for knowing when something was last sold and at what price.

How is that possible? At the date of acquisition it either had an order on it or it didn't. If it did then they would surely have been aware of it as part of their due diligence process. Correlate that to the acquisition?

jackwhite
I'm sure they bought it and then the order was imposed.
