It looks a right mess, a bodge job, surprised that they got permission for it. It's a fair point. But then the pavements and the roads are shit anyway so all the you have to do is put them back as shit as the original.

The Victorians just had shit cart tracks with no foundations.
Banker
Looks like we’re going to be stuck with another derelict eyesore in Douglas, Ashford to the rescue?? https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/newsons-development-to-go-before-planning-committee/
Dirty Buggane
Would not expect to much, Ashford will still be getting into his persona of expert developer and architect. Which he will become after reading a few articles and watching power point videos on utube, committing to memory a few key phrases and then passing the plan as the developers want. Not taking in to account the 15 vehicles for residents or where the customers of the 3 resturants/bars will park. Or are they all going to turn up on their bicycles and scooters on a cold rainy winters nights.
manxfisherman
That Newsons rebuild should go ahead, it is so dumb to object to it. It wasn't built to last 200 years, knock it down.

What next. Let it rot for 30 years until demolition is the only option. What an eyesore. What an embarrassment. @Chris Thomas have you let us down?

DBC supportive - local authority element. Max Power
I can't believe the messing around with this, a classic deterrent to investment on this God forsaken, half arsed island. Whilst investment is shunned and obstacles placed on people trying to do anything, like organising events etc, this place will sink further and further into obscurity! We don't have departments to enable investment, we actually have them to deter it. They lose sight of what they are really there for! There's precious little left to protect, if that's what they think they are doing? Edited September 25, 2022 by Max Power 1
