Not been down there for a while but people I know are booked to be working there this month. The Newsons refusal is an absolute joke and an embarrassment. Why would anyone want to try and develop over here when they have to spend absolute fortunes on architects and planning nonsense just to be refused for no good reason. It’s a national embarrassment. Government should compensate Keldevelopments and buy the rotten building back at what they paid plus an amount to cover their other costs incurred. You can’t protect a building after someone buys it with the intention of developing it for the benefit of everyone, and expect them to suck up hundreds of thousands if not more of loss. Like you say, the building is now worthless and will just rot. If government don’t want it developed they should buy it and do something with it. Perhaps preserving a building that 'we' think deserves it? Or allowing a housing estate on Derby Sq park which we would disagree with?
