Banker
Statement from Crogga on plans. Rob C on Facebook is indicated very large electric price rises due next week due to price of gas to power the stations https://gef.im/2022/03/07/crogga-claims-gas-could-be-capped-at-80p/?fbclid=IwAR1CjAT6QyVoICbrNmTieciHJF1_jjeKm91z9eD9yM4scCfBU8U1VK5baeg

What’s coming out of the whole Russia situation is that the environmental lobby has pretty much pushed dependency on Russian gas. It seems to be the other way round. The climate change deniers are Putin's best friends, because not investing in renewables increases dependence on Russian gas. Farage and his fellow traitors are now campaigning against net zero.

I think its time we froze Daffys £42 million until we see where all this is going , Germany have anounced today they are looking to go back to coal fired electricity generation but saying they have the technology to capture the carbon , without Putins gas they, and lots more EU countries are Knackered ,and wont be able to meet their renewables targets , as they don"t have the luxury of a transitional programme which is exactly what Grogga will give us provided they get the Go ahead and produce the gas , 4
b4mbi
Surely, surely now with these tragic global events bringing energy security into very sharp focus even IOMG can see that they MUST give Crogga the full 18 months they are asking for to do the seismic survey ASAP. Just GET ON WITH IT and don't bloody leave it until 29th April to make a half baked decision that doesn't give the company a chance. It should also allow them to do the 6 week survey ASAP, not just between Dec-April when the weather is at its worst Edited March 7, 2022 by b4mbi 3

Seems a sensible idea to me.

Price of electricity & gas will be up c30% minimum next month Edited March 8, 2022 by Banker
winnie
I really think any talk of zero emissions needs to be delayed until we (the West) are in a position to stop buying Russian gas and oil. Gas, coal and oil can all be burnt in a fairly clean manor for the next 10 years, assisted by Green energy, not the other way round. I think we can see that Necleor, assisted by Green energy is the only way forward for the next 50 years. Crogga need to be given the go ahead asap.

winnie
The Times reporting Johnson is to announce plans to exploit new areas of the North Sea for oil and gas reserves for the first time in three years amid spiralling energy prices No excuse to not move forward with the gas exploration in Manx waters. Get it sorted now. 2
Stu Peters
Apparently Ireland is being forced to close its coal powered power plant and is building new gas ones instead (hence the Crogga plan to supply mainly to ROI). Crogga and an engineer pal (who knows the Pulrose plant) tell me our power station could run well beyond its 2031 'end of life' date if required and overhauls are costed in. Natural gas has a bright if limited future, so if we have any of our own we should be exploiting it now, not listening to the vociferous green lobby.
