Annoymouse
So I knew nothing about this scheme, what sort of consumer protection do these gift cards carry? Most gift cards are valid two years from purchase, but if I bought this card and all the percipients dropped out 6 months later, what happens? £50 for the cost of £40 sounds tempting, if you wanted to give someone £70 you’d just buy one £40 card and one £30 card wouldn’t you? According to the terms and conditions: Government Incentivised LoveIOM Gift cards are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase. You'll notice this is from the purchase date, not when the offer starts (4 January).

Cheers Roger, that’s no good for me at all and I think that will catch quite a few people out, can see quite a few complaints come end of Jan/beginning of Feb. cissolt
Did we ever find out how much the Gef the mongoose people had been paid for this scheme? The owner seems to be a former member of the civil service. Not that this would influence any tender process....if there was one.

hissingsid
I bought a gift voucher from a well known restaurant for a present last year and then came lock down. Luckily the restaurant honored the voucher a few months later and full marks to them, twelve weeks is not a long time especially if you purchase it a couple of weeks before Christmas. I don’t think people are aware of this condition.

Non-Believer
The latest edict. Apparently the £500,000 project was only "a trial".
