Wait til you find out that a foreigner took the picture, too. The council should really do something about that.

My idea and we created that to a: introduce the two new councillors to the residents of Douglas South, b: give easy access to our contact details (and also in case someone doesn’t have internet) and c : wish people Merry Christmas. Total cost to Douglas ratepayers: zero, as we paid for this ourselves. Done using a local printing company of course. It's a slippery slope - they'll want presents next year. (Actually it's a good idea because they won't have had any information from you because of the Ward being uncontested)
hissingsid
Apparently Peel are applying for City status and they have got a Cathedral 😁 it would be great if they got it and Douglas did not. Something to do with the Queens Diamond Jubilee that has set up these requests.

It does actually make sense for Peel because before 1889, English and Welsh towns did become cities if they had an Anglican Cathedral. Peel certainly had one of sorts, though it wasn't much of a state and the Parish Church didn't finally get Cathedral status till as late as 1980. Peel might be small but St Davids and St Asaph in Wales are even smaller.
Max Power
Douglas can't deal with the big issues, how can they deserve city status...

Not quite sure what the point of the card is to be honest, possibly for those without Internet access maybe? Anyway, looking to the future, and presumably if city status is accorded, Douglas ratepayers can look forward to receiving many other such pointless 'freebies'...... Plummeting Granny farming to new depths ,must be a Manx labour party thing , if you are really lucky you will be awakened on Boxing day morning with the Cretney Clan singing hunt the wren , there writing a book How to Win the Popular vote it used to be called Kidding the public ,great shame local politics is stooping to this wish everybody the compliments of the season on facebook by all means, but personal Christmas Cards , what a waste of resources , if there like this with their own money ,what chance have the ratepayers got who they claim to represent 1 1
hissingsid
I think it is a great idea it is called making an effort. It is amazing how many people do not know who their MHK is or who the town councillor is who represents their ward.
