Well for ages we complained they earn too much. Now they earn less it’s still not right. Mind you, a lot of things aren’t right at BV and wages are the least of the issues.

It's the new modern economic ethos.

Everybody else should work for next to nothing to keep costs down for the rest of us. And rich people can get much richer in the process.

People drink drive all year round. It isn’t really our annual drink drive campaign. It’s just the only time of the year that the police can really be arsed doing anything about it as it’s easy as so many people are usually out at once.

Guess you must miss the news the rest of the year when there's drink drivers in court or do you think they just turn up and admit to it all?

So why is the campaign only at Christmas?  The annual warnings are unlikely to be heeded by those they're aimed at, as drink drivers tend to offend habitually.  Or do the police think some drivers only consider offending during the festive period?  If the campaigns were successful, surely offending would recede, yet it doesn't seem to.

It's highlighted more round Christmas time because there's more people out, you get your once a year drinkers, you get people who might think it's worth the risk and they won't get caught. Drink drivers are caught and sent to court all year round.

In most cases it will be concerned members of the public tipping the police off. The chances of getting caught outside of that by being stopped by the police are fairly slim for 11 months of the year.

Yeah that's not really true though

Looking at recent cases it appears to be a mixture.  Some are spotted directly by police, some are detected by police after they have been called to a crash, some are picked up by the police for other reasons (eg headlights), and some are only called out because of reports from the public.  It would be interesting to know the breakdown, but there may be no single main reasojn for detection.

Tailing and stopping random motorists. It's a turkey shoot.

I don't know why we have these   purges at Christmas , Drink driving , use of excessive speed and driving way beyond ones capability is a year round  curse on this Island ,and driving under the influence of drugs or a controlled substance  is catching up fast , the other ,( were here  to justify our existence )    is the silly add that will appear in the newspapers shortly  about the importance of defrosting your Christmas  Turkey before you cook it , this was fine in the 1960 when people first bought freezers , and didn't understand  food preparation  as there were no instructions on most food products in those days

where are these people for the rest of the year ?
