hissingsid
The most boring Mannin Line I have ever listened to and that is saying a lot. Firstly we had Julian on , antivaxer, believer of the internet etc quoting figures and Sweden’s way of dealing with Covid , constantly repeating himself fora good 15 minutes and then Barry the taxi driver on about people and drivers masking up in taxis, again repeating himself again and again. Apparently the government did not consult with the taxi drivers before issuing this edict, what absolute bullshit. I do appreciate that it may be a hassle getting a load of drunks t mask up on a Saturday night but surely when they book a taxi the operator could inform the customers they must wear a mask. Shoprite have someone on the door handing out masks to people who have forgotten theirs that is being proactive. Surely a box of single use masks to give to clients who have not got one is not a biggy. He went on for about 10 minutes . I fear Andy Wint is looking his grip. He loves himself too much. 3 3

It's simple, even in Glasgow now. No mask and you are not getting in a taxi. I am sure if it can be done in Glasgow then a Saturday night in Douglas shouldn't be the most difficult of things.
James Blonde
The Mannin Line, like the rest of Manx Radio, is 30 years past it's use by date. The Mannin Line offers nothing but an echo chamber for Winty and his eclectic mix of questionable individuals. The Government like that as it gives them an easy ride. Nothing that is said on the show is taken seriously. The vast majority of the GMP are too busy trying to earn a living to have the time of day to contribute to it.
Gladys
Actually, the taxi driver's point was they hadn't been given any guidance. Are they public transport or not?

hissingsid
Fair enough but if he said he hadn’t been given a piece of paper once he said it numerous times. Common sense seems to be lacking here.
quilp
Taxi driver I know hates the mask-wearing. After the last lockdown he lost his income. He told me that he does an LFT every day but added that, because of losing his wage last time, if he tests positive with an LFT he's not going to isolate nor take a PCR test. I asked him whether, in that case, why do the LFT's every day and his reply was "so I know." Make of that what you will. It takes a certain type of person to be a tax driver.
Shake me up Judy
There'll be plenty like him too, and who's to judge them when there are bills to pay and kids to feed ? 3
quilp
In his case there's no kids but he's behind on the rent (council flat), the gas and electric because of the lockdowns. He's had covid once already (bad) and has a couple of comorbidities but says he'll carry on if positive as long as he doesn't get too sick. As you say @Shake me up Judy, he won't be the only one.
Raffles
Does he know that you can claim £230 for each week of your 2 week isolation? I know it's not a huge sum but it goes some way towards bills and has been brought in to encourage people to do the right thing.
Raffles
Regarding the Mannin Line, yes it was tragic today. Boring Barry and Joker Julian. Barry needs to get disposable masks in his taxi. It's not surprising that people dont realise masks are required in taxis and they are probably kicking off because they dont have any masks on them.
quilp
He was cagey about claiming the assistance and never gave me a straight answer about it. He's also an ardent but not very good card-player.
