hissingsid
The current state of play with the boat going back and forward illustrates what a dump Heysham Port is for passengers travelling by foot. My sympathies to anyone affected not a great situation to be in especially at this time of year when they are busy. Hopefully the boat will be able to dock at lunchtime but according to passengers there is quite a queue of boats in front of them.

But the point is that it's designed for cargo (non-pax ops). It's too tight and awkward to maneuvere in inclement weather or silting as has been the case too not that long ago. They'd have been better investing the £70mln spent on the new Scouse landing stage in a good quality year-round dock somewhere else. Also, do ferry passengers have similar rights to air passengers like EU261 to cover accommodation and sustenance?

hissingsid
The complaints on FB from people stuck there, cafe not open, one expensive vending machine that had run out of water. Some had been there over 24 hours. What a dump.

monasqueen
I wonder how many people have done all three round trips. The man who delivered our newspapers yesterday must be one of them. Full sympathy with all caught up in it. No planes flying this morning, either, so no back-up for foot passengers.
Passing Time
I would rather the government pushed some money Heysham's way to do up the facilities there rather than spunk £70,000,000 and rising in Liverpool. 3

I would rather Peel Ports - headed by the benevolent Manx HNWI actually invested in the facilities of the port itself. IOMG couldn’t give a toss about passenger comfort at Heysham Port, least of all, the price of a cup of bovril from a vending machine or the price of a sandwich. Like Marie Antoinette Tynwald would probably say ‘Let them eat cake’. If IOMG seriously got involved you can bet your bottom dollar, that £ms will be spent, the toilets will 24k gold with the latest technology arse wipers, but you still won’t be able to get a hot drink.
Kopek
There's a CO-OP about 20 mins away, probably better that the machines? If the 2am doesn't leave, stuck there again, not worth trying to get accommodation. Let's hope Monday is clearer. Bloody Gods!!!

If this was a flight, passengers would be being put up in hotels. Seems boats don't have these same obligations...
emesde
Surely you don't get compensation even with airlines if there is a weather problem that endangers the flight. Isn't this a insurance claim situation.?
