Acting Clerk on the minutes is the district surveyor.
Roger Mexico
There are numerous previous threads on this topic, the most recent substantial one being here with background information being here: The most recent agenda, sent out yesterday, is signed: "R Phillips, Acting Chief Executive.Clerk", presumably the recently retired Clerk to Tynwald, who just can't stop clerking. Radcliffe is still listed as CEO on the website though, so the position is still uncertain. Edited to add: Just saw Ham_N_Eggs comment which would make more sense and presumably cost less. Numbnuts
Its a mess.... and is going to cost big time....be interesting to see if the amount to be agreed will be forthcoming . Edited January 7, 2022 by Numbnuts
hissingsid
So if the district surveyor is doing the job as well as his own there is obviously a case of over staffing, as I remember a member of staff took over the job when the last one was suspended as well as his own so the work load cannot be that heavy. Suspending one Chief Executive is bad but two in a row needs n explanation surely….both were suspended on full pay for a good while before an undisclosed cash payment was made to the first and probably the same to the one that is ongoing. Would it not have made more monetary sense to have suspended the Commissioners and given them a years expenses each as compensation…..just dreamin🤪g
Tricky
It is a messy situation, but what I can say is tat the acting CEO is a great guy, and is very competent - i'd call the temporary appointment "a steady had on the tiller'. The problem being however, even with the best at the helm, if the ship is already sinking courtesy of a deeply troubled management structure, and a 'reluctant' work force, it is pretty much a lost cause. One hell of a mess unfortunately.

Memorex
Another clerk has been paid off, I hope this does not increase the rates by too much.
hissingsid
Losing one is unfortunate losing two is ridiculous especially as the majority of the Commissioners were in power on both occasions if not the majority the ones that are long time members. Non-Believer
Lucrative business this, for Town Clerks. Disagree with Boards, rightly or wrongly, get suspended, accept pay off presumably with NDO. Two from Onchan, one from PSM in the recent past alone. Come on Ratepayers, stump up. And you don't have any right to know why.

Well the 'current' Clerk was suspended in June before the Local Elections, so it was started by the previous Board anyway. But only two of the new Board Zara Lewin and Fenella Logan) weren't on the old one.

I think you might find that it is five clerks in five years if you count the temporary ones and three pay offs in five years of senior staff. But nobody seems bothered so it is business as usual. Anybody interested in the vacancy?
0bserver
Are we going to continue with these Toy Town political shenanigans? It's costing a massive amount of money (in relative terms) and there seems to be no end of it. We urgently need local authority reform but is anyone going to step up and deliver it in Tynwald?
