I'm sure some apologists will be along shortly to explain how they're actually saving us money!

They will be boasting next about how many new. electric vehicles have been procured. Electric vehicles are extremely expensive and are they value for money?

The rise will also help to pay for the Land Rover Discoverys they purchased.

The MUA's (and MEA before it) management structure has long had expensive tastes in perks and personal transport.

What's the answer then. Is Callister supposed to produce money out of a hat. Where does the money come from.

The answer is the same as it was 20 years ago when they spent how many hundred million on Pully power station.

Wind and daylight are free, reliable and not subject to market or Putin's conditions. They would also have been cheaper to install.

I think rising electricity prices would be infinitely more palatable if there was any progress at all towards avoiding a similar situation in the future. So far all we've had is a couple of commitees, the mother of all tax and fuel subsidies for the rich owners of EV's and a Jolly to Glasgow on expenses.

If you want to put the price of electricity up, show us what you're doing to make it come down in the future!

its the 4x4 Toyotas and the land rover discoveries    I object to   and all the mobile phones the staff have,  plus a radio in the vehicles ,  and everything gold plated .

Must be saving to be made somewhere especially when most of the utility"s workforce  seem to  back at base most days before 3pm  and half a day on Friday ,,

I feel sure Chairman  Rob will rise to the challenge and introduce better value for the consumers , but don't hold your breath .

Don't forget the Bupa healthcare. Says a lot when a government owned company doesn't consider the NHS good enough for its own staff.

It's not a roadmap though - it's just a list of fuzzy aspirations.

They should probably have come up with a definitive capital programme before throwing £40,000,000 at it.

Presumably they have to arrive at the figure of £42m - would certainly be good to see some detail on the capital spend

She obviously does not understand  the Budget process and this is what happens when you get people elected  who have never had a local authority background  or some insight into finance , you would have thought her buddy in the Manx  Labour party  who just happens to be part of the treasury team would have briefed her, after all they have had over a week to prepare for the Budget debate ,perhaps labour are playing both sides against the middle ,which is something they have always done ,

She understands well enough that with a real political mandate from her electors she has a right to be consulted on how taxpayers money is to be spent

Lots of the new vehicles purchased by the MUA were purchased when Alf was treasury minister so he must of known.

Yes naughty Alf, even the cost of the Land rovers pales into insignificance compared to the new Unimogs of which there won't be change from a quarter of a million each!
