Need Arkady Renko to investigate it.

Putin may have removed one enemy but Prigozhin will have had friends who will now be worried, so if anything Putin's in even more danger than before.

I wonder if Wagner had a decent Succession Plan? Very remiss if they haven't which, let's face it, is no way to run a modern business...

Right now I suspect it's squeaky bottom time for Lukashenko what with a large, heavily-armed and now leaderless Wagner group currently in his country looking for gainful employment...

Poland might sleep easier for a bit...

From today's Independent.

Quote

Masked men claiming to belong to the Wagner group have warned the Kremlin to “get ready for us” after the reported death of their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“There’s a lot of talk right now about what the Wagner group will do. We can tell you one thing: we are getting started, get ready for us,” the men warned in a video posted on Russian Telegram channels.

This is extremely good news. While they're all concentrating on exterminating one another, they're leaving the rest of us alone.

Most reports seem to be suggesting a bomb.  But looking at the video of it falling out of the sky, the jet looks mostly intact, possibly missing a wing, but certainly most of the fuselage looks like it's there.   Also seems to be one large pile of debris, whereas a bomb would surely have blown pieces over a large area.

Putin now demands that Wagner troops sign an oath of allegiance following Prig's demise.

I'm seeing comparisons to the execution of Ernst Röhm, leader of the 'Sturmabteilung' (SA) during the 'Night of the Long Knives' in 30s Nazi Germany. Röhm was perceived by Hitler and his allies as having become too powerful, by him having a burgeoning million-strong party of loyal and dedicated followers (essentially a private army), and a direct threat to the leadership. Röhm and his entourage was also despised by the christian-right, for being openly homosexual. Immediately following Röhm's execution, Hitler demanded all members of the SA pledged their sworn allegiance to him. Or face the consequences...

Putin's surviving on his wits.
