But looking at the video of it falling out of the sky, the jet looks mostly intact, possibly missing a wing, but certainly most of the fuselage looks like it's there. Röhm was perceived by Hitler and his allies as having become too powerful, by him having a burgeoning million-strong party of loyal and dedicated followers (essentially a private army), and a direct threat to the leadership. Röhm and his entourage was also despised by the christian-right, for being openly homosexual. Immediately following Röhm's execution, Hitler demanded all members of the SA pledged their sworn allegiance to him. Or face the consequences... Putin's surviving on his wits.
