Treasury will be applying pressure to make savings, possibly by trimming budgets. "Savings" in the DOI vernacular (and most of the rest of Govt Depts) means raising taxes and fees to replace lost budget to preserve departmental income stream. "Cuts" is not part of said vernacular, unless it's cuts to services to the taxpayers.

They'll be looking for every penny and personally I wouldn't be surprised if the new Vehicle Excise Duty rates that caused such a furore when they were first brought forward and then hastily withdrawn, are dusted off the shelf.

The amount of money that they've actually squandered and wasted of course will not be up for discussion, "Always look forward". Rob Callister has been noticeably quiet on the Promenade subject; there've been no signs of remorse or regret from Baker or Harmer since their departures. Plenty more money to be squeezed from the public yet.

TBF you wouldn't expect Baker to comment, and confidentiality is probably a term of his settlement agreement.  Assuming there was one.   🤫

The 'settlement agreement' is automatic - they get six months basic salary if they lose their seats unless they're over 60 (Boot, Perkins) and can start on the pension or have been an MHK for less than two years (Quine).  No requirement to keep silent, though let's face it wouldn't you if you were one of them?

This is it....£60k-odd a year then a £30k+ parachute payment for being so useless at your job that even the Kirk Michael faithful said "enough".

Exactly what did Tim Baker achieve again...? Shall we start with the defence of red zebra crossings?

The people's prince has somehow managed to escape the blame for the shit show on the promenade, wasn't he also running with the car tax increases but admitted to not understanding the figures?

Too many politicians getting away with blagging their way through and not being accountable for their decisions.

I don't think we could expect Crookall to publicly pronounce the heads he may be banging together, that would damage confidence in the Dept. and , probably breach HR rules with consequences?

It would NOT happen in the private sector.

His jocular PR is probably the best approach, no promises! What he may be doing behind the scenes is the important point? Six months notice required?

How do you know that?

Undermining a person at work could be constructive dismissal.

The public are not as animated as we on MF are.

and...... undermining a CS could involve the Civil Service Commission with consequences a la Houghton?

.....but they don't do it publicly. Which is what you expect?

They are all human beings, your friends, relatives and neighbours and deserving of some respect in the privacy of their work place no matter how they are performing?

Some of them need undermining. To show them what a void looks like after they singularly failed to demonstrate any on the Promenade despite it being one of the stated essential points for the job being undertaken in the first instance.

they just don't throw them out , what are the circumstances  ,does anyone know ?

I do not and discussing individual cases in public like this is not appropriate. If there are issues or someone needs help, our contact details are here: http://douglas.gov.im/index.php/the-council/councillors

See how many "Possession" cases are before the Courts at the moment here:

  civil.pdf (courts.im)

Some of these cases seem to drag on for months - I think the Onchan Commissioners claim has been going on for well over a year.

I think it is the taxpayer who picks up any deficiencies in Local Authority housing so those not paying their heavily subsidised rent (which is presumably the root cause of most of the possession cases) are costing us all.

Are the Local Authorities and Courts robust enough in dealing with these cases?

I see another person is being evicted from their DC home on Facebook. Where they will be sleeping on the streets come next week.

OK could you furnish us with the details so then we could have an informed discussion or are we just supposed to automatically believe the Facebook post and ho get the pitch forks
