Annoymouse
20k on a carnival, what a joke, you’d have thought it would at least be sponsored, what do you get for 20k? That’s a hell of a lot of sweets to throw into the crowd .

hissingsid
They will no doubt be claiming £5000 towards it from the Government under the allowance scheme to celebrate the Queens Jubilee which is fair enough so just £15,000.

They are not doing it to save 20k, it's to force people to recycle. The DBC chap, the other German guy, stated this already. Its unlikely to actually save any money.

Amadeus
It’s both really. Gate fees at the EFW plant are only going up. Sending fewer truck loads there saves money, now and in the long run. That’s next to the fact the island is 20+ years behind other places when it comes to recycling. As for the carnival, it was clear a lot of people wanted to see it back and with the (yet to be finalised) new format, it will be a lovely community event that also benefits businesses in the area. What do you think about sending a truck full of cardboard to West Yorkshire rather than just running it to Richmond Hill?
