Sex education and religion

Pantomime has been around for hundreds of years and cannot be compared with a drag artist with no qualifications instructing children as young  as 11 in sexual matters.   If this has happened, and so far no one has denied it, it is a total disgrace.    Telling people not to speculate and kicking the ball into the long grass will not do it is tantamount to admitting neither the headmistress or the Education Dept. are aware as to what is taking place whilst children are in their care.   There was a comment in one of the local rags written by one of the reporters, no name attached, which supported this sexual instruction alleging that children in the age group affected had all watched porn etc. to say I was surprised is an understatement.    What about safeguarding ?    Does it not apply to schoolchildren?

There is no evidence this has happened.

The fisting had disappeared quietly and suddenly too once it was pointed out the document in the “special report” was nothing to do with the Island. Eliza Cox even mentions she has no idea what age group the document was targeted at.

Safeguarding is what makes the claims so questionable. There is no way a teacher wouldn’t have been present at this point. There may well have been other members of staff present too.

Where were they to deal with this situation?

The other dodgy allegation is of the teacher who announced to the class that they didn't want to teach what they were about to teach and the class should ignore them.  If they were that concerned they should have raised it with the head or departmental head and refused to teach the topic  before setting foot in the classroom.

Panto dames, where males dress up as females and the audience laughs at how ridiculous they look. I'm surprised you are a fan!

To be a good panto dame is more than just being a bloke in a frock though. It’s an art of entertaining an audience.

But, why is exaggerating femininity as the butt of a joke so much more palatable? Is it because they’re likely heterosexual men and the audience can wrap their heads around that?

When the femininity is amplified in a way that isn’t for a joke, does that unsettle an average audience? If so, why? It wasn’t that long ago that women didn’t act at all, all roles were men.

The origins and purpose of both lies firmly in entertainment.

But it’s not just panto, where the principal boy is played by a girl and the older mother/comedy type woman/dame by a man, plus the ugly sisters are cross dressed.

Everything theatrical before the C18 had the women played by boys/adolescent men. Read Shakespeare with that in mind and it’s not just double entendre or bawdy, it’s downright Roy Chubby Brown material.

Anyway, to close with the immortal phrase, “10 miles to London, and still no Dick”. Kids are smart, savvy, Street wise, they know these things, they discuss them and giggle about them in the playground.

What's going on here? Don't they know what was going on in their classrooms? That they need an outsider to find out who's been in their classroom.

Not only that, the Headteacher of QE2 doesn’t know either..

There is this this called the Internet and it takes very little effort to find freely available hardcore pornography.

Most children will at least have access to an Internet enabled device and many will have parents who have not implemented any Internet controls.

I suspect by the age 13 children will have seen much more sexually explicit content than boobs on page 3 of The Sun.

Those of you who are parents may also want to look up the reports of children being groomed via Spotify.  That's right Spotify.  A service with no messaging facility but which is still being used by paedophiles to access children.

Why would someone bother going to the extent of accessing a school if they just wanted to corrupt children?

The only people who know what happened are the teacher, students and, if there at all, drag Queen. And no doubt they’ll each give contradictory accounts.

Any enquiry conducted by the Head, or a teacher or DESC staff would be denounced as a whitewash. No one would believe the drag queen ( if he/she were there ).

So an external investigation is the best way forward.

Although I’m sure it’s findings, whatever they are, will be decried by some.

When serious allegations are made, and they could affect the livelihood/position  of teachers, heads,  or even Julie Edge, they need to be investigated properly.

Like Callister, the data and minutes in Ranson, the Scales allegations about Douglas Corporation. The fact an investigation takes time, and,  if employment is at risk, has to follow the rules of natural justice, with all sides being heard and given chance to respond, means it won’t be quick and it’s best not to jump to condemnation.

It’s terrifying what goes around in schools. A novelty for Year 8s well over a decade ago was putting shock porn on like “2 Girls 1 Cup” on the school computers.

I doubt it has gotten any better.
