Well shocking though it may be but at well over 80 years on this earth I still don’t know what fisting means 🤣   I do hope I have not missed out on anything interesting and I am not looking it up in case it pops up again when my grandchildren use my iPad.

At 80, you really don't want, or need, to know.

They've been employing an agency to provide sex education in Island schools and have lost control of what's being taught.

That sounds like it might be the source of the problem. It feels to me that this subject is better delivered by a teacher the kids already know than an outsider.

Yet that clip refers to a story of a teacher who told their class that they had to reach the topic but didn't want to.  So told the children to ignore them and colour in while they delivered the lesson.  Another of a pretty (relevance?) young teacher who gave the condom instruction, IIRC.  So, it would seem that it is indeed the teachers presenting this info.  Perhaps the agency provides the teaching plan and materials

Very good point, doubt they are being taught how to, more awareness, you would hope.

As for the story of putting a condom on a wooden dildo, it was probably a wooden model of a penis used to demonstrate, not a sex toy.  Just like during the AIDS education process, there were demonstrations of how to put a condom on a cucumber.  We had a lot of safe salads in the 80s.

Cucumbers and Bananas were commonly used for such demonstrations.

Definitely makes more sense to use a more accurate model but I can also understand how it would upset some people.

Screaming that they're all going to burn in Hell may not be effective.

The only thing I would have disagree with, is what  the children told the Drag Queen that there were only two genders,  As anybody knows who is in a long term relationship, there are three   Male, Female and us Eunuchs.

So you're not bothered kids are being taught anal and oral sex, or that drag queen's are brought into schools to teach a lesson and kicking kids out of lessons? Teachers, who don't feel it appropriate to teach these lessons, are being told they must do so?

Teenagers are going to be having sex whether or not they know how to do it safely.

As was pointed out, the lessons on oral and anal sex are for 16-18 year olds.

If you actually look at the linked PDF, some of the key points being taught are:

Some people masturbate, some don’t, either is okay

Not just vaginal sex counts as sex. Oral sex is too.

Some people have anal sex, it’s important to still use a condom if you choose to.

Porn can negatively influence how people see sex, don’t believe everything you see in it.

For any sex you’re having, make sure you’re comfortable and consenting. It also draws awareness to coercion.

So, consent, condoms and personal choice. They’re arguably good things to be teaching young people.

As for the drag queens, do you also boycott the panto for kids?

It is whether it was age appropriate really.  No point showing an 11 year old, but 16 + probably wouldn't be a bad idea.  If it is introduced in the right way and the pupils weren't forced to put a condom on the model, it shouldn't upset those in an appropriate age group.

My recollection of being at that age was that if any difficult topic was broached in a mature and sympathetic way (which generally would engender a mature and sympathetic response) not many would be upset and would be thankful, even flattered, that their own maturity and ability to understand was acknowledged.

There was none of this when I was at school though and I don’t think it was any the worse for that.

I think it’s vital that young people are taught the importance of bodily autonomy and consent. The importance of respecting someone else saying no, and that not just the word no means no.

It has also been shown that teen pregnancy and STD rates are much higher where students don’t get sex education.

Abstinence curriculums also lead to all sorts of weird things. Mormon soaking is an example that comes to mind. Google it at your own risk.

The report said that when the pupils responded '2' to the question of how many genders there were the drag queen told them to leave.  If true, that is completely wrong.  The drag queen should have used it as an opportunity to explain the difference between sex and gender, and the wide spectrum of the latter, which let's face it, the rest of us are only coming to understand now.

But, do we know the truth of what happened?

If that’s truly what happened, then it absolutely isn’t on.

But, I can’t see how it wouldn’t be used as an opportunity to discuss. Especially if the drag queen themselves had posed the question.
