I don't think they are making money at al I predict the Brewery (Okells ) will shut this year and H+B shortly after

It's not looking good, as discretionary spending will be very much in the spotlight this year I think anybody who does go out will be seeking VFM venues.

House prices and rent are killing discretionary booze spending.

Shit food in most of the brewery pubs is killing discretionary food spending.

Agreed, in addition to H&B's own pricing killing discretionary booze spending.

I'm not one for defending the brewery, believe me I'm not.

But can you clarify what you mean about their pricing?

How specifically do you think it should be different?

Well it's not difficult to find Carling for £2 odd across!

Other than in 'spoons?

TBF they do drive the prices on the likes of Carling (as they are importers and one of the only stockists)

Average cost of a pint in UK is £4.07 but going up in most places.

You do have to factor in getting it here.

I'm not saying they're the cheapest (and like I said not a fan) but I don't think they're THAT much more than other places.

A pint of McEwans in the east coast of Scotland is, on ave, £3.50/pint and lager's even cheaper.

Brewery prices and prices from the suppliers are increasing in the UK. The likes of Weatherspoons economies of scale enable them to offer a pint with a meal (selected brands) or cheaper alcoholic drinks than a lot of their competitors.

Weatherspoons sell the ale that is very close or on the use by dates. That's why its so cheap. I believe Quids in do the same

This is a long-held fallacy. Think about it logistically for a second - that approach simply would not work at anywhere near the scales JDW operate. They sell cheap beer because they buy it by lakeful.

That is exactly why it does work, the beer does not stay in the barrels that long - have a think about it...

Mc yewww ens. Whatever it costs, they are overcharging

Don't necessarily disagree..... but have you tried getting a decent bitter on the east coast of Scotland at a reasonable price? Belhaven is not what it used to be and that's definitely over-priced.

Both are awful drinks tbh.

There are always outliers.

H&B sell some drinks at less than £4 a pint but they’re generally crap.

Again still don’t see or been given a valid explanation as to why the brewery’s prices are OTT.
