Manx petrol amongst cheapest in British Isles

Manx Radio ran this the other day, https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/manx-petrol-cheapest-in-british-isles/ and it is something I've noticed since about last September when the UK was having the 'fuel shortage'. Suddenly, UK fuel prices overtook us and stayed ahead of us.

Why is our fuel consistently so much cheaper lately? It always used to be notably dearer. Is E10 costing that much more there, or is it simple profiteering from the UK side?

Even the supermarket fuel pumps are dearer than we pay at the moment.

Or are our local suppliers just really good at hedging ?

Wait for the next boat to arrive, I guess they cleverly bought forward.

yes we haven't had a delivery for a while , but I guess when we do ,expect a double  figure increase in petrol ,diesel  ,and heating oil ,   then a fuel cost  supplement  on  boat fares and airline   flights ,  the Isle of Man is facing some very serious challenges , add that to the recent restrictions imposed on certain businesses who could formerly use Red diesel , all adding to a massive increase in the cost of living , and business

and in the midst of all of this we have allocated £42 million  to  grant fund Tesla charging point to  high net worths  , and a few other nice to haves that will no doubt save the planet ,   while Boris ,   given his due is looking to open coal mines to operate steel plants now imports  of coking coal from Russia are banned ,  opening up oilfields in the north sea and getting back to bringing fracking pack into the equation again  before the lights go out ,

How often do we get deliveries? It has been a good 6 months that you've been paying more for fuel off the boat in Heysham, even at ASDA, than you have at the local petrol stations.

It all went backwards when fuel prices went silly in the UK last September, and it has been the 'wrong way' round since. Until then, the UK was always cheaper as long as I recall it.

Any chance you can shut up before you give our clowns ideas...

Any current price differential will be transient - as others have posted above, wait for the next consignment to arrive and see what the cost is then. Let's see if MR (or whoever has supplied their story to them, Cabinet Office?) is still trumpeting differences in our favour then.

IoM fuel prices are regularly more expensive than UK in more regular circumstances, "the cost of living on an Island" is the usual quote.

I see Boris is reportedly off to Saudi now to try and curry favour to convince the Saudis to up production to cover the UK's shortfall from Russia; although his mission is apparently being diplomatically hampered by the fact that the Saudis just executed 80+ miscreants in one day for various reasons...

didn't think we had E10 here , we don't have the infrastructure for it.

It seemed a conveniently selective press release from govt.  Do we have the highest gas and oil prices in Europe?

We don't. Can't transport or store it.

The alcohol part actually costs more than the petrol part. Hence the difference ever since E10 was introduced.

This is getting very strange indeed! Like the gas issue, there doesn't appear to be a shortage of either, the price is being forced upwards due to market speculation rather than anything else.

There is no increase in the costs of the actual supply, the servicing of we, the customer, the costs of infrastructure etc. Yet there is obscene profiteering by the likes of Manx Gas, and fuel wholesalers, the government, in increased taxation due to higher pricing. This is how we are being forced to pay for Covid and all of the waste connected with it!

Don't worry, OFT will be all over this.
