What kind of carb loading savage would do such a thing? Go all out and add a slice of bread too!

A few of us were meal sharing and he was aghast when someone actually made Garlic Bread and Lasagne for him. Seems it's actually pretty frowned upon by the natives. Kopek
Pretty common request though. Along with half and half rice and chips with curry. I wouldn't do it, serve with rice, let them 'buy' the chips!!! Along with 'dont give me no salad' in a Hamburger! Voice. I often use shortcuts here on MF that I wouldn't in formal use but don't we pronounce it Fish n Chips when speaking? You often see that wording on menus blackboards etc. But usually only for fish with chips, not for example “pea n ham soup” As for pronunciation I suppose you could use ‘n’ rather than ‘and’ at it would still sound OK, as in Salt n Vinegar Derek n the Dominoes Cagney n Lacey Cheese n wine etc etc

You don’t get Steak n Ale, or Chicken n Mushroom Pie do you? Much less lasagne n chips n salad Surely it's either: fish 'n' chips, or fish 'n chips, or fish-n-chips? [Edit] Actually I think that should be fish-'n-chips. The OED's examples appear to confirm. Fish n' chips would only be acceptable in Heavy Metal English, where one or more umlauts would perhaps also be required.
