the loss of M and S from Douglas would be a disaster

...clothes etc could go in my view as that could all be done on line. The Food Hall however is a different kettle of fish...

As someone else mentioned, in the late 90s the prom was one big nightclub.

I was explaining this to a 'youngster' a couple of days ago.  He couldn't believe that there used to be nightclubs along the prom and your night out consisted of a drinking quest from the South to North Prom.

Never managed to do a prom drinking quest. I ran out of steam by the end of the Barbary Coast.

At one point I actually looked into setting up some sort of prom shuttle drinking quest minibus service.

Didn’t do the Barbary Coast end to end often. A couple of stag dos. A work leaving do. I’m a lightweight.

Had a work colleague, long dead, who never managed more than 2 Barbary pubs before keeling over. It was only later we discovered he kept vodka in his desk drawer and topped up all day.

Apparently Gringos are getting kicked out of their current position soon. Hope they find a patch close by, be a real shame to lose them completely, great food and service.

That sucks.  They only just moved into that shed.

Where is Gringos?

In the carpark next to Mad Jacks on South Quay.

There is a wooden shed there that used to be a drive thru coffee place that they took over and painted wacky colours only a month or two ago.
