Naturally, he won't have moved here purely for tax reasons or anything like that, will he....?

No doubt the profits from his fx training school will already be amassing tax free inside his IOM holding company. Just the sort of publicity hungry online spiv that would be attracted here by low tax rates. He’ll work out shorty though that he’ll be exposed fairly quickly.

This is great news for low paid but May push a few marginal businesses to shut & others will need to push up prices

Wonder if it is MR or the government press release issuer that can’t add up?

The report claims the difference between £10.75 and £11.05 is 20p

Manx Radio, the IOMG press release doesn't mention the figure for the Living Wage, no doubt because if it did everyone would ask why it is going to take three years for them to make up a difference of 30p.

Of course they haven’t adjusted the living wage for inflation, so it’s pretty meaningless. The 30p will be more like £1.80. It’ll never catch up

It'll be a charity shop probably 🙄  Newsons were never the same after they moved off North Quay (IMHO), they used to sell reasonable quality stuff at a reasonable price in NQ, when they moved into Strand St they went "up market" certainly with the prices although they most likely had a rent hike to match. Sad loss.

Begs the question, Why now? Could it be anything to do with the new developments in the catchment area and little chance of expanding the workforce to cope with growing demand?

It'll be interesting to see how Hooper and Manx Care spin this one.  5 months to transition to a new provider.

Tesco are closing meat, fish, and hot deli counters from February 26th according to reports.

They all closed during covid. Many never reopened. It’s sad.
