Good news for the proper butchers and fish shops.  It’s been lovely to see a bit of a resurgence of these over recent years.

Kermellies in Ramsey is pretty much a business born in lockdown which is going from strength to strength.

Good news if you can afford the prices of aforementioned shops.

An example of a business that hasn’t moved with the times quite as much as they should.

Kermellies have embraced social media and you often see them tagged in posts from restaurants that use their produce. They post interesting and engaging content on their own page and so quite often you are just reminded to pop in.

They also complement the day to day fish sales with other Manx produce such as eggs and bread, plus meat rubs and deli items from off island.

Finally, they serve very good kipper baps, Queen or baps, mackerel baps etc.

Plus, deverauxs have only closed one of their shops, and only until May

This is not IoM specific change - they are closing counters across their supermarkets because people happy yo buy pre-packaged stuff and they save salaries

Same with ASDA sadly. But speaking as a vegan... (to be continued).

They all closed during covid. Many never reopened. It’s sad.

They didn't close here,  or if they did not for very long due to Covid.   The cold deli counter closed, but can't remember if it was pre-Covid, and it has never re- opened.
