I overheard this on MR news towards the end of last week, Douglas Chamber of Commerce is claiming that businesses and individuals are facing their, "Toughest times in Decades" in the economy as they launch their latest survey.

Well with all the pedestrianization on N Quay now how could such a quality retail environment not attract new customers and investment? It’s great to see the investment made to make the quay look even worse than it did at the height of the late 70s & early 80s recession.

On a positive less footfall with roads been closed, and  no one will even notice the mess it’s in 😂

Never heard of it so couldn’t be very good, where is it?

It was pretty good and is at the innovation centre.

They are looking for new people to take it over on a profit share basis and with virtually no rent payable from what I can make out, so it should be a good opportunity for someone with minimal risk.

It's a national embarrassment.

It could be a great opportunity for a young chef to get their own place at little cost? Upfront at least.

So hard for a chef to open up on their own because of the costs involved, lease, equipment, capital starting cover and fit out.

Perhaps because I know the Chef who went in there, know his skills, his ability,  maybe there was a problem with the location that can never be resolved???

Considering we already have people on this thread who have never heard of it, I think we can guess what part of the issue was.

On top of that, we went four times.  On three of those occasions it was closed.  He is lucky we kept trying as most people wouldn’t have bothered.

Looks like the old rumour mill has been in full swing again.  It’s sad that businesses have to our info out to quell all the rumours started by people with pathetic little lives.

What's happening with Babbages Bistro

🧐We've heard some interesting theories over the last few days about Babbage's Bistro closing and so we are happy to set your minds at rest and provide an update with what's going on!

🥲 Due to personal reasons, Declan, who joined us last year has had to step away from the business and so you may have seen that we have recently been advertising the opportunity to join us at Mountain View as our catering partner in Babbage's Bistro.

👉 After an in depth recruitment process, we have been delighted to have been able to offer the partnership to a new company -which we are incredibly excited about!

👥 We are just in the final stages of dotting i's and crossing t's and hope to be able to provide an update, announcement and reopening date in the next week or so - so stay tuned!

🤩 Finally, we would just like to thank Declan for his time here and we, as I'm sure all of you also do; wish him every success and happiness in the future!
