John Wright
Just now, Asthehills said: Probably. The place has been struggling for years to pay bills. That may, or may not, be the case. There were a large number of catering establishments fined at that court. I know. I was providing duty advocate cover. The fine for Xander Ltd was very much at the lower end. Albert Tatlock
There are floors and floors of govt staff now geared up to raise revenue, from tax people to egaming compliance regulations and parking fines. They are all busy imploding their own revenue model. Suddenly, they'll find there is no one left to fine anymore as businesses say 'enough is enough'...that have no staff to work here as it's too expensive to live here. The Isle of man government and their lack of financial and residential controls are destroying the islands economy and forcing most people under 30 to leave...forever...as businesses move to other jurisdictions. ...all to keep their salaries and pensions. 7 2

None of my family members under 30 have left other than to go to uni, and then they came back. They are buying houses and doing jobs here. What on earth is a lack of residential controls? We as a population need to pay for education, healthcare etc. I agree that some of it isn’t spent very wisely, but I don’t think we are being intentionally screwed over.

I.e unless you are a Key worker you cannot buy a house below X amount unless you have lived there for several years I was offered a job over there maybe 12 or 13 years ago and the minimum was something like £500k or so .. So I didn't stand a chance and did not go..

Mercenary
I saw Ramsey Shipping Services up for sale for £250k. Didn't we just spend £500k+ doing the slipway up to take bigger boats? Not sure if DOI or DfE but would potentially look like poor value ..

Mistercee
For £1150? Wasn't that just the fine - not the amount outstanding to Treasury?

I’m also pretty certain that Chatha as landlord has taken control of the restaurant business.. just rumours of course.

Start off as a landlord then take over the business. It’s unlikely to bode well. Edited June 26, 2023 by The Port Soderick Herald
