Looks like Peter and Sandra are finally packing it in.

Marine Hotel up for sale, offers over 1mil.

I saw Peter in the Street the other day. He reminds me of Mic Jagger these past few years.

I cannot believe they’re still at it. When they passed it on to the union guy I thought they’d get their well deserved break but no, they ended up having to go back.

Its been in the Faragher family for years and I think Peter has such a huge loyalty to that and to the hard work of Sheila before him.

I’m glad they’ve made this decision. Loyalty and tradition is one thing. Putting yourself first (finally) is another. I wish them well.

every time they put somebody in the replacements ran things down and they had to come back and take over again to sort the mess out,  you can't get the staff so selling is a good option for them

Whoever buys it won’t be able to get staff either though and that’s after spending over £1M on it.

Agreed. When it’s your ‘baby’ it’s hard to walk away for sure.

Lends itself to being a proper family business then doesn’t it.

I have some close friends who are very interested.

You are spending over a million on a property that includes six apartments generating income, and a huge are downstairs that could and should be a goldmine.  The outside roof terrace is seriously under utilised at the moment.

the point is if you buy it and run it yourself  you will actually put the effort in.

I fully agree. The price will be the main barrier though as I can’t imagine many people would have the means to pay over a million quid for it and then want to run it themselves 24/7 as that takes a lot of your time and effort and unless you already own some pubs or are a brewer etc if you’ve got a million quid in the bank (or the means to borrow a million quid) there are much easier ways of making money without working to 11:00 every night.

I had a client look at this. They’re ok I think they’re on AirBnb if you want pics. They could push the income a lot more though but it depends on whether people want to stay over a busy pub or not.
