Cueey Lewis And The News
I’d imagine now Shoprite/Tesco will likely be dumping Robinsons stuff the deal probably makes sense for them to get their product placed in other retail outlets.

It’s a bakery producing bread, how’s that going to help selling fruit & veg in retail outlets they don’t already supply?

It gets you into the supply chain with the non Tesco stores as a supplier and then you build relationships that hopefully you can cross sell from from there. Ross Bakery has been for sale for at least a year so it’s funny how only now after the Tescos situation that Robinsons see the benefit of doing a deal.
John Wright
If Robinsons are able to scale their production of Ross Bread, and hit consistent quality standards, they’re likely to supply Tesco. Just like Ramsey Bakery. They talk about resilience and security/continuity of supply. Tesco want that as well, on days the boat hasn’t run.

I think there is certainly an opportunity for Robinson's I agree. You don't mention fruit and veg, perhaps intentionally. I think Tesco will revert to their own supply chain for that, but I was in the store today and Robinson's had a fine selection of seafood (including kippers) and surely that's something Tesco should be looking to exploit.. It’s the occasional indulgence now, but not a regular purchase. Over 3 quid for one almond croissant is nuts. 😉 I see what you did there…

Interesting to see how it affects Noa. £3 for a loaf that has more holes than actual bread 1

Controversial, but I used to really like Ramsey Bakery’s medium sliced white bread. Some may question its taste and nutritional value but I liked it. Couldn’t stand that Mollenburg stuff. Each to their own etc. Anyway after the demise of Ramsey Bakery had to rely on Kingsmill ( imported ) white bread from Shoprite which was more expensive. Being from Ramsey we had the Co op bread. Some nice specialist bread but lasted no more than a day, no decent white sliced. Anyway hopefully Tesco’s in Ramsey will bring some new stuff Edited October 26, 2023 by The Voice of Reason

I know it's supposed to have holes, but you can have too much of a good thing. Expected it to be a treat too. Far from it!
