Also, back to the subject of businesses actually opening (well opposite to the thread title) Barbary Coast is to open in the brewery property that was The Royal George in Ramsey.

As mentioned on the Okells thread in August.  The rumour has been around for months.  Is it now officially announced somewhere?

Sorry, didn't see that.

Not announced but came direct from someone who will be senior there and has an interest beyond just receiving a wage.

So you don't remember the couple of Latvian or Lithuanian vessels they chartered forcing the racket to drop their freight charges?

Of course. There's a long thread on it:

 https://www.manxforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/42007-mezeron-steam-packet-master-thread/page/122/#comments

But it was hardly a happy experience for anyone, and it didn't last long. As I posted on the thread, I really cannot see it. Just so many hangups, and not that much upside.

edit: also the obvious old Natwest building on corner of Prospect

Are they for sale? It's important.

NatWest still seems to be up for sale as well:

Obviously if Wetherspoons take it, they're going to have to call it Dumbells

Perhaps you can post the links to press articles about steam packet nearly going bust etc

This from wiki on the subject. That 15% was more than their profit margin.

On 1 November 2010, it was reported on the Isle of Man Newspapers website, that the Steam Packet had lost two major freight customers to rival company Mezeron who had just set up a new freight service between Douglas and Liverpool a week or so earlier. In February 2011 Mezeron withdrew the service citing lack of growth in the market. Previously the Steam Packet Company had reported a loss of 15% of its total freight business to Mezeron.
