Just seen a news release confirming that Mark Lewin has been appointed chief operating officer for cabinet office & new CEO required for DFE .

We already have a Chief Executive in cabinet office, why do we need a COO on massive package? More headcount being added

What concerns you most about Lewin's massive package?

Succession planning for Will Greenhow’s yet to be announced retirement?

I think that Will Greeenhow did some sort of made-up job for Mary Williams before she retired and was then anointed as her heir.  The rest is a story of unimaginable success, perfectly executed strategy and the Isle of Man going from strenth to strength.  Or something like that...

It does look like like Mark Lewin ("I am Graham Ferguson Lacey's chosen successor") is being shooed in.

Just read the news release. It noted that Mr Lewin had been integral in the restructuring of the Department and the development of the agencies.

Had he made any positive contributions to economic development though?

It's a little world of its own, of appointments, career advances...and, above all, looking after oneself.

One wonders if this, and others, had any real democratic political scrutiny in respect of need or requirement before being sanctioned? Cabinet Office is now a huge PS edifice all of its own, the costs in salaries and running must be horrifying.

If wasn't before, it is now, out of control!

Mark was responsible for the agency approach at DFE.

Is this the same Lewin who ran the Sefton group before they had to be bailed out by the Government?

Looks like it is him
