And now he’s gone. It’s a shame they let him retire (again) despite the appetite that seemed to exist to do it in a much less nicer way. No doubt he’ll be back driving bus by next Monday now he’s created a driver shortage.

Given that he's left the buses and horsetrams in the same state as Reynolds and Spake left the airport I hope that the taxpayers will be receiving an apology for his failures.

Comments on the Isle of Man Transport Faceache page suggest that many buses were indeed cancelled. But Time use the "he believes" get out of jail free card.

He said all services ran. Not on time, or that buses weren’t merged.

Bit chaotic today. Longwith’s revenge.

How ironic would it appear if after IL's retirement his lady partner put a claim in against the DOI for the derailment of the tram at Lewaigue, which was allegedly driven by the Director of Transport🤔

The press statement did not say that there were any injuries in that incident - and there were rumours on this very forum that his lady partner had left. So is the phrase "allegedly driven"  significant?

The terminally cynical (like moi) might also suggest that his departing might be

a) "conveniently" before the PAC starts rummaging in the Promenade doings; and

b) maybe before it transpires that the horse tram tracks have to come up again because the trams can't navigate the corners now....?

Because if he's gone, he's no longer accountable for anything. Pension and out the door whilst the taxpayers suck on yet another bitter pill.
