quilp
Oh, haven't really been giving it the attention it probably deserves, didn't realise it was quite that bad. And that's bad.

Meanwhile local kids walk to school. Can't make this shit up. Chris Thomas needs to grip this. They are again prioritizing private hire business over providing the services they need (and are paid) to provide. And at the same time an actual private hire business can’t get private hire business as Bus Vannin undercuts it. You couldn’t make it up. 2

Yes it’s much more important that kids get to go on school trips rather than actually getting to school to sit exams that will dictate the rest of their lives! Or given the general attitude of some of the BV drivers I believe many in Jurby now refer to it as dial-a-rude!

Listening to Chris Thomas about the ferry terminal it seems he has been inducted into the cult of the DOI, perhaps the brainwashing has worked already !

Didn't Longworth "steal" the school mini buses that had been bought, often with funds raised by parents, by the schools themselves?

Yes. Then promptly made sure the schools still had to pay to service and test the ones they stole.
Amadeus
Private Hire bus full of tourists on the prom this morning, at the same time as regular services were “at risk”. How is this acceptable?

How is this acceptable? Is it possible that they had a spare driver this morning after the school run but he was back on the school run in the afternoon when the services were at threat One issue is the contingency service reduces the number of computer buses into town but they’re still putting a single decker on. These leaves people standing, which slows us down people getting on and off and makes the bus late.
Kopek
If it was pre booked and it probably was, the only solution would be to hand the contract to a private operator? Maybe should have been so in the first place but without the current difficulties causing problems it would have been a profitable trip for BV. and we might have applauded the reduction in their losses??? The reduction in their losses comes at a cost to private businesses who BV should not be competing with in the first place. Whichever muppet came up with this idea probably thought he’s a right clever genius for using a tax payer subsidised fleet to undercut private operators, but was then too dumb or arrogant to realise that this is a calculation that doesn’t work on any level. And of course now that the shit has hit the fan it’s a double screw up. BV is letting fare paying customers they are supposed to be there for down and private businesses still lose money. Irresponsible clowns. 8
