Ashford: Should he stay or should he go?

136 members have voted

  1. 1. What is the forums view on this fantasists ability to hang on to a role on Comin?

    • He should resign himself
    • He should be told to go regardless
  2. 2. Does anyone think he has the personal integrity to tender a resignation himself without being pushed?

  3. 3. Should the UK also be asking questions about his MBE?

Pathetic really by Cannan, he should have immediately sacked him not wait for him to resign. Weak government all round.
this does not let Cannan and others off the hook.
Ewart should be next. And she should be sacked too not wait for a golden handshake.

The Tribunal certainly appeared to be more critical of her conduct than of Ashford's.

And there was the weird bit when she was apparently giving testimony and referred to some messages she had on her 'phone that had not previously been disclosed to the Tribunal.  That seemed very odd.

What a snivelling little non-apology apology.  Straight from the Westminster playbook of 'not wanting to be the story'.  Without considering why he is the story.

No apology to Dr Ranson.  No apology to the public.  No apology to anyone except the CM.  No admitting responsibility, never mind blame.  Two pages of waffle plus a bit of patting himself on the back for a couple of minor improvements.  Which itself illustrates how little he's done in the last seven months.

FFS don't go giving him ideas of a return..... I don't want him foisted on my grandchildren in the years to come. Anyway, Churchill he ain't.

Good you picked up on the Churchill comparison. Walter's a big fan, apparently. Once his term is over I can't see him continuing in any role. Neighbourhood Watch possibly, or a Lollipop Man.

Ewart next.

Well, even if it is, social media is a fact of life, use it wisely but ignore it at your peril.

Agree but it’s just pathetic blaming social media for the position you’re in. Social media exists to let people publicly voice their views. What he really seems to be pissed off about is that people on social media didn’t agree with the blinkered reality bubble he was living in. It is also a clear dig at Rachel Glover so after the Ranson case has he really not learned his lesson about the bullying and victimization of women who have crossed him?

That letter basically sets out how thoroughly delusional he is and how he’s actually learned nothing.

Perhaps even more relevantly, if what we have been told is true, any repercussions for his partner have been entirely due to her own use of social media.  Some people think that social media are only for the (self-defined) elite like themselves and get upset when the plebs decide to talk back with anything except fulsome praise.

I’m not on Facebook but the last time I heard, the GMP seemed to be fully behind him.

Did this change after the results of the tribunal were presented?

Only for a few people. Judging by the comments on his Facebook page most people haven't read or don't understand what he's done wrong.

Also on his Facebook page is a statement from him about how Ranson hasn't been sacked and the media were lying...

Neighbourhood Watch?  Jeez, could you imagine him peering in through your window at night?
