I think David should stay, he has worked incredibly hard since he was elected and hindsight is a wonderful thing.

This isn't hindsight. It's a final emergence of the verified and documented facts of the matter. It would appear most of what was seen at the time was smoke and mirrors, which has now emerged as the abject failure of David Ashford to listen to anyone other than a music graduate for medical and scientific advice. He then passed on that unqualified advice, which was at odds to the professional advice he didn't want to hear, to the Manx Public, who didn't know the difference.

Of course, DA should resign; both as a Treasury Minister and as an MHK. But he won’t (he should’ve immediately resigned following the revelations about the appalling IOMG ‘sanctioned’ treatment that Dr Glover had to endure). The inconvenient truth that he, along with a few others, is that they should have never been elected to the HoKs in the first place. At some point the Island must have an honest debate about our political system and the methods of governance, but until then our politicians will carry on with what even Abraham Lincoln did not think was possible – to keep trying to fool all of the people all of the time.

Just released on you tube an interview with Cris Robertshaw,  well worth listening to.   His opinion is that David Ashford should tender his resignation. He is very supportive of Dr Ranson.

(Likewise THIS interview, released almost exactly a year ago:)

This interesting piece, by Sam Turton, shines a light on the role of Karen Malone (now DHSC, CEO) in acting as a snitch for Magson. If Alf really wants to clear the decks, her position doesn't look too secure.

The powers that be knew all about Malone and still appointed her.  Let's see if that changes.

I feel lawrie has been a let down as minister, he talked a good game as a back bencher and at the PaC meetings.

Shame he’s a Brexiteer but he talks a lot of sense there. He’s right of course. Ashford should resign. If he wants a longer term career in Manx politics he should take all this as a call for him to do the right thing and reset the clock. He took the public for a ride over the pandemic.

What’s being a Brexiteer got to do with it?

Oh, really, that is a bit selective. She does also have 15 years experience working in a bank. I've heard that in some places that counts a lot towards a PhD in some bio-scientific subject. Or maybe that was a pseudo-scientific subject like 360deg anal-ysis.

Yes. This is the Chris Robertshaw that was knocking on doors and was elected by the people of Douglas East. For sure.

It is not the same (Hon) Chris Robertshaw MHK who sat in House of Keys and Tynwald all those years. No way.

It was a REALLY comfortable seat though...

So comfortable in fact, that he dropped his exposé of the costs of the IRIS debacle, IIRC..?

Because that’s a major thing I would disagree with him on. But otherwise his intuition and his observations are pretty much spot on. You might not agree with him always but he has the courage of his convictions to say what he thinks which should be applauded.

Thank you Rachel you have put into words exactly what I was thinking. I just hope everyone else can see that HRH Professor Ashford QC has been exposed as a complete Walter Mitty.

’”Mr Ashford has been at the centre of the Island’s efforts to suppress the spread and has shown strong leadership of the Health and Social Care Services.

He has absorbed medical information and presented it to the public in a clear and understandable way.

He has expertly answered questions at press briefings with kindness and humour in equal measure. He has instilled confidence at a challenging time for all and has shown selfless commitment and an unquestionable sense of duty.”

All written by his sister if it’s to be believed.
