Ashford: Should he stay or should he go?

136 members have voted

  1. 1. What is the forums view on this fantasists ability to hang on to a role on Comin?

    • He should resign himself
    • He should be told to go regardless
  2. 2. Does anyone think he has the personal integrity to tender a resignation himself without being pushed?

  3. 3. Should the UK also be asking questions about his MBE?

Maybe he is so Mitty-like that he offered his resignation only as a negotiating tactic - that he thought he was so necessary that they would offer him Chief Minister role to ensure he stayed on-board.

You may think that unrealistic, but note that he still considers he has done nothing wrong.

The more I find out about the IoM gov., the more fantasy (or horror) and reality become indistinguishable.

So having resigned on Monday he said thereafter he has no intention of resigning ? Have I got this right ?

Yes the official version of events is:

He allegedly resigned privately on Monday

Cannan did the briefing on the Tuesday making no mention of his resignation

The President suppressed any questions asking if he was resigning or being sacked

Ashford told the press that he wouldn’t be resigning

Later on that week another press story ran that said he wouldn’t be resigning

On Thursday he presumably writes a long waffly letter resigning

On Friday lunchtime and he admits that he resigned on Monday and presents long waffle letter referring back to Monday.

He really does think that everyone else is as gullible as him!

So Mr Cannan has made him an offer he can't refuse perhaps.

They've just had one, ( the latest ), wrongful dismissal case, do you think they want to risk another? What could Henri reveal of behind the scenes shenanigans???

They'll start with moving her desk out onto Finch Rd................

I don’t think she can act or try to hoover anything up. As she said she didn’t respond to phone calls or messages as they were at 9pm at night . But in briefings said she worked near to midnight. So she was avoiding the Dr or she was maybe getting paid over time for work she wasn’t doing.

I doubt she was paid overtime.

In his latest blathering Alfie seems to say that he asked Ashford to stay on while Alfie sorted out a replacement.

...and presumably had someone write a nice farewell  speech?

She doesn't need to. She knows she is on the way out but still employed, so she just has to sit it out while a settlement is arranged. If she were employed by anyone other than the Govt, we would probably say that is the way to handle the matter???
