Joining the local gardening club, or the football club, or other service/faith/interest/sporting groups would help us to build stronger institutions, and I believe that stronger institutions build better humans. Unfortunately, we live in a very atomised society where institutions of all sorts are breaking down, and therefore, people have reduced experience and reduced training in confronting challenging issues. The Tynwald Register of Interests reveals that there are many MHKs who are not a member of "any trade union, professional society, political grouping or party, or of the Freemasons or any body outside Tynwald." 2) Some MHKs would benefit from reading books. Listening to one the other day say out loud, "What is free speech anyway?" made me realise that there are some people who have very little intellectual curiosity for issues before they arrive on their plate. I think we already have too many masons in government and the house of keys. As for religious groups, they should be kept away from any political decision making. Living hope already have their tendrils woven into government.

JPW is an ex employment lawyer. I suspect she is helping significantly with the purge, getting them out legally and ensuring that they can't come back get excessive compo from the Govt. At least that's what I hope she's doing. 4

Don't make the mistake that government does by confusing outputs with outcomes. It's easy to make lots of noise, but much harder to make worthwhile changes. But you do realise that you actually have to do something to earn or receive a brown envelope? 2

I can't say for the rest of your list, but I have found Clare Barber to be an effective constituency MHK, as was her predecessor Brenda Cannell. Joney Faragher is an inspirational caring & hard working new MHK who'll do her very best for all members of society in her constituency & beyond I look forward to the time when she becomes a Minister, offering real purpose to government 4

That’s an odd choice when you leave people like Stu Peters or Rob Callister off the list.
