Or baling out early in advance of Alf's oncoming brave new world? It will be interesting to see how many follow.

Hopefully the department is just going to disappear. No minister, no CEO, and the Deputy CEO now gone. That said it might be the time to start following a lot of these sort of people on Twitter and see how many times similar announcements pop up in your feed in the next few months.

They'd have to replace, merge or delegate the function somewhere however.  Although a lot of it is pure bullshit, some of the DED/Digital Isle guys are quite helpful to bringing Finance and Tech business to the Isle.  If you've got someone interested in bringing business here, a swift direct line into a Govt Dept is appreciated and a boon.

At least they used to be.  A few years back, I used to direct people there regularly.  However recently despite having a 'Blockchain Sandbox' and similar initiatives, actually getting any response other than red tape is painful.

My guess would be move COs Registry back under the FSA that would mean it could self fund itself more like it always used to before Treasury took its income and then carve the rest up. Most of it isn’t needed.

Who?

Apparently he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director Policy and Strategy, though given that all the functions were supposed to be devolved to Boards, you wonder what the purpose of such a job was.  He was with the government for 21 years, almost entirely as an 'adviser' (or 'advisor' he seems uncertain about the spelling).

Never heard of him, was he important?

More importantly, how much was he being paid and for doing precisely what? For this position that he's walked away from for reasons yet to be announced.
