Numbnuts
The TT merchandising contract has been awarded. Why are they keeping it quiet nobody knows apart from the powers that be in Motorsport division. All firms involved in the resale have had to submit orders for the next year , designs and sizes , and these apparently are mainly coming from China. Suez Canal could make that problematic!! . As someone above said it’s only 12 weeks away and they have been given a week before practice week for delivery of TT garments. Fuller range apparently this year including jackets . As for garments been discounted etc. I do know that Manx Indi had many boxes held there when issues started to surface about Cube and initially they were offered to outlets here by Cube at a big discount but with the quality etc that wasn’t sufficiently attractive to take the risk. If Government have purchased these items that’s very wrong as the sensible thing to have done was seize them due to debt to department and offload them at a discount to lessen the debt to them. Too sensible so guessing they have probably purchased them . We will never find out that’s for sure Edited February 2 by Numbnuts Eye problems sadly so hard to type correctly
Andy Onchan
I was told a long time ago that whatever DfE and motorsport (in particular) want, they get. Almost no questions asked. As I have said before, the income from the Registries should be removed from DfE budget, allocated and paid to health and education. At the moment DfE doesn't really have to justify how and on what or who they spend the money on. They've a had a few good years now to monetize and commercialise motorsports. Time for some levelling up, Alf. Spend the money where it's most needed.
CallMeCurious
Any sign of the superdooper scoreboard yet? Guess Daphne will sort it. Let's hope they use MV Arrow to ship TT merchandise.

Open your eyes in early June to see the TT's economic impact on the island, an impact it has had for well over a century. It's still not enough for some whoppers though is it? And that's completely ignoring the cultural and other impacts of the event. Some people really are hell bent on turning this place into a dull backwater full of middle-aged men in BMW'S who's idea of a good time is to talk about tax efficiency and their pension strategy.

Sounds like the guys in the TT VIP Hospitality.

Ďouglas Peel
Just imagine if TT goods like the excellent Motorsport Merchandise, could be manufactured on the island, what a pipe dream.Real jobs for designers, machinists, and countless more,I guess its hopeless competing with China? I had a sister who was a manager at an original Babygro factory ,then a Levis factory across, all gone to cheaper labour market. That said, shipping fast shipping from China may be a problem going forward. Chinese shipping is not being targeted in Red Sea due to agreements with Houthi so taking advantage by put up freight charges!

We had the next best thing to that, a local concern handling the ordering, import and sales of Chinese-sourced merchandise with local jobs, salaries and taxes. Unfortunately that wasn't good enough for a collection of utterly incompetent, unqualified, self-serving cock-noshers from the DfE. Maybe there wasn't enough in it for some of them.
