I don't know what happened, I was just reacting to the suggestion, above, that there may have been a promo element.

The important point was that the DoI had said it was to clear the mountain of the racing furniture and let's face it, they have had plenty of time to do so and if they had delayed the clearance to fit in with a promo then that is dishonest?

That's what is about, should our Govt lie to us???

So obviously no - the government shouldn’t lie to us. But before you start a violent uprising with pitchforks marching up prospect hill to Tynwald, is there any evidence to suggest they delayed the closure for publicity with Hicky - or indeed was there any? Perhaps the road closure was published and, if indeed anything happened with Hicky on the mountain, they approached the government afterwards to do some publicity - on already pre-planning closed roads - published in advance, and coordinated with the DOI for safety?

very good story in the Local newspaper today regarding  the department of enterprise and the shennanigans with Cube the recently appointed TT clothing supplier ,,  the deal has a distinct smell about it  and does governments reputation no good ,  time this was fully investigated ,

Indeed.  Seems Gef have done a bit of digging and found out about some barefaced lies, shifted contracts and altered statements.  Manx Care responsible for the TT Merch now?

Look at it from an outsider's viewpoint.  It was announced, to some puzzlement, that there would be a further two days road closure needed to remove stuff from the mountain, even though it was never needed before and the extra removal days were scheduled weeks after the previous ones when you'd assume it was more efficient to do it all as close together as possible.  The fact we were assured that the second day probably wouldn't be needed unless the weather was bad was also strange - how misty does it have to get to prevent loading up a lorry on a closed road?

It then turns out that some filming just happens to be arranged for the first day (and filming would certainly be affected by the weather), people are going to be suspicious whether the whole thing was ever necessary.  This isn't just a matter of convenience, it's also about money.  I assume that payments are made to the government if road closures are made for filming purposes.  But perhaps not if the road 'just happens' to be shut for other purposes.  So the taxpayer will be losing out.

Still we know there are never any dodgy contractual dealings associated with motorcycle racing on the Island, eh?

Was there any filming done yesterday? Still not seen any confirmation of that?

This point is mentioned somewhere above but without explicit details. The company website has the press statement:

And the company person to contact is....

"Media Contact:

Victoria Giles, Motorsport Marketing Manager
Department for Enterprise
victoria.giles@gov.im"

I do find that strange. Surely that is not commonplace.

There were "contributors" to these boards who were avidly defending the new suppliers and pricing and quality of the merchandise just before TT week too....

Not me….I had a little info as to what was coming. And today Cube are over getting next years designs signed off with DofE . That be interesting. Believe there’s going to be a £20 T-shirt this time. Hope the quality is far better than this years never mind the designs.
