The operator of the fair is certainly very keen to get back, he was on Man Radio this morning, it just shows the amount of money he is making because it must cost fortunes to bring all the stuff over.   It is not so much the fair I dislike but the position should never be on the promenade.

Should be at noble’s park as no other entertainment this year

What happened to the 1886 music festival ? Last year had a good selection of B-list artistes, and even Sister Bliss at the closing party. This year there is absolutely nothing, just the usual selection of Tesco Value impersonators.

I guess they're running it as a business this year and not a charity.

Yup. Just weird to go from lots of quality bands and a thriving feel to the island to no music at all and a general atmosphere of chips, cheese and gravy. 2022 was definitely the high water mark for the TT, 2023 seems to have gone back a decade or more.

2022 was the great relaunch after the trials and tribulations of Covid. It was hailed as a success, so they should be building on that, not relapsing.

Did they officially run it as a charity or do you mean at a loss? I mean they sold out every night so they would have known it was going to make a profit or not before they committed.

The guy invested a fortune into it and it apparently didn’t pay off. Fair play to him for trying after covid. But it’s not his job to provide loss making TT entertainment for other people - that’s governments job. He’s a private business in it to make money for himself as investor/shareholder.

At a loss. No one in business is going to do that two years running, although, festivals usually do make a loss the first year but this wasn't really a festival in the trie sense of the word. It's a bar and restaurant and I guess the has to be their main focus.

You say they were sold out very night but to be honest, it never seemed that busy. More were sitting on the prom wall listening than those inside who paid.

Good point. Not sure if it was full but my son tried to get tickets for one of the nights and my sister for another and was told they were sold out. Maybe other nights were not.

Not even close on most nights. Nile Rodgers and Rag'n'bone man maybe, but none of the others as far as I recall.
