Organisers need to understand that and build sensible plans around that fact. So help them out. You’re clearly involved and dedicated. Give them the benefit of your experience and use your time to ensure we do have enough marshals.

You have a point ……………. there are tasks though that even a useless politician could do. What is annoying, is marshals and others working and politicos in the hospitality tents, gladhanding etc. Remember the picture of our favourite politician up at the grandstand looking starstruck meeting a team owner. After the absolutely appalling scenes at Ago's Leap in last year's event how could any sane politician want any sort of association with it? It's our heritage...older than anyone alive here. If riders want to do it, there'll always be people there to support them doing it. Same for mountain guides, parachute and ski instructers etc. Life would be boring sitting in a flame proof armchair for 80 years.

Sorry to mention it Albert but 2 incidents resulting in 4 deaths need to be looked into and without the "old adage" its always happened and "they died doing what they loved" does not cut the mustard any more FFS the family's must be gutted. If your argument for is pro heritage, make them ride on a dirt track and open gates. It is not the same event at all.

They were both investigated by the coroner. Separate accidents, separate causes.
