Anyone know what the fuck the police were playing at running a rolling roadblock at 40-50mph across the mountain just after it first went one way? Couple of vids up on Facebook of bikes coming up behind that at 160+ and having to slam on. Properly safe that plod.

So not the idiots riding / driving 160mph were not the problem?

This is the thing with these entitled motorcyclists, they think everyone else is the problem. Just like cyclists at 15mph are the problem but not the motorcyclists at 160mph. Go figure.

It was to prevent anyone who may have pulled out of a gateway or parking spot from proceeding past the police roadblock, or running head on into any lunatic who may be doing 160mph!

Not really. Halfwits in sportscars manage to bin them even when it’s two-way.

They're worse than the bikers. Threre was a McLaren trying to go the wrong way past the Co-Op in Port Erin.

Just because the TT has been around for as long as it has doesn't trump that.

The quote was in reference to the whopper who just bought the house at Balladoole and then stopped the Southern organisers from putting a bridge across his driveway at their expense, despite them having done it for years. The new owner’s prerogative, of course, but still makes them look like a whopper.

As for the wider TT, there aren’t that many houses that pre-date the TT, and of those houses even fewer are owned by the same people.

They are, it was the same last year when they did that Festival of Motoring and a load of them came over and stayed in Ramsey. Not so much a festival of motoring as a festival of driving like a complete moron. The bikers are sedate in comparison.

Perhaps they should have done that... before opening it?

After the road became one-way, the major junctions are blocked but there are still laybys, footpaths crossing the road, and blind left-hand bends - and cars and bikes travelling at extremely high speed.

This is not the same as a track day at a racing circuit.

If there is a response to this post, it will be "If you don't like it, don't go there". But the gov. has a responsibility.

Sounds like a good reason not to do 160mph on a public road then, there could have been a broken down vehicle round any of the corners. I’ve seen the video on Facebook and the people whinging about Plod are the same ones that will make sure we don’t have any unrestricted sections left.

Why didn’t the 160mph rider or any of the others moaning about plod not just pull over and wait 10 minutes for them to clear out the way?

You do realise that even one way, you have to ride with the understanding that you have no idea what is round the corner?

Some of the corners, yes. You can see round many of them from a long way back.

You can see round most of the corners on the mountain.  There are long sections where those speeds are fine
